How Labs works

We hire for the work, so we test the work.

Automaark builds production software, AI systems, automation and go-to-market infrastructure for clients. What matters day to day is picking up something you didn't make, working out what's really going on, and doing it properly. Interviews reward talking about that. Labs lets you show it.

The steps

From application to a call.

  1. Apply

A short form about your real work, for one role.

  2. Confirm your email

Click the link we email you. We only see confirmed applications.

  3. Screening

Strong applications get a Lab invite by email, often within minutes. A person reads the rest.

  4. The Lab

One sitting, at a time you choose before your deadline. The clock starts when you press Start.

  5. A call

If you're shortlisted, 30 minutes with us about the work you did.

  • You own every part of what you submit, whoever or whatever wrote it. Check it.
  • Partial work counts. Save or push as you go.
  • Write down what you'd do with more time.
  • Something broke on our side? Reply to your invite and we'll reset it.

What we look for

Judgment, not memorised answers.

In every Lab. Each role's page lists what we score for that role.

01

Real work, not trivia

You do a small piece of the actual job, on realistic material, the way you would on a normal day.

02

Judgment over memory

We care how you reason, what you prioritise and what you check, not whether you remember an answer.

03

AI is expected

Use the tools you would use at work. You own what you submit, so we look at how well you check and steer them.

04

Clear, honest writing

Short notes on what you did, what you'd do next and what you're unsure of. Plain English beats polish.

05

The same for everyone

Everyone applying for a role gets the same assessment and is scored against the same written criteria.

06

Respect for your time

One sitting, at a time you choose before your deadline. The clock only starts when you press Start.
